Dialogic response and aesthetic transformation
two steps in an interdisciplinary art project
step 1
The starting point of the project is the artistic approach to indeterminate places and spaces in the city. Those hybrid spaces in a transitional stage: Old-use structures dissolve and new ones have not yet manifested themselves. They are considered as a platform for opportunities as a breeding ground for new, temporary activities that are initiated by different actors. So far arise unknown types of areas, uses and new appearances in and out of the city.
What happens when these changing spaces and places are faced with a process in which the transformation is applied as a principle of artistic creation? What results arise when the practical work in these areas migrate through different disciplines?
step 2
Forms of artistic design to a selected location (sketch, photograph, piece of music, video, concept, or text)
the beginning of the process that follows the dialogic response. The work is fed into the transformation process and left to another seminar participant with another tray for reshaping. At the same time, students accept a work of another discipline to transform as well. This process continues throughout the semester and has several transformation steps - sometimes secret, sometimes openly.
At the end of the semester, uncovered works will be presented in a public exhibition.
